A new collaboaration with set & costume designer Poppy Whitehorn, his photo series Talisman situates young adults in Post-Thatcher British homes next to symbols of youth - such as sports equipment and instruments - representing those hobbies often adopted at a young age and shed as one grows into adulthood. It is up to interpretation whether the message of this visual language is the beauty of maintaining one's child-like wonder and naivete, or the disempowerment and despondence of dependent young adults in a time of rampant disenfranchisement.
Talisman is named in reference to this particularly transitional stage of life when young adults are given crucial guidance and direction from certain key individuals; In a sense of reverse anthropomorphism, the subjects in the series become talismans representing an otherworldly peer support network in Deedigan's own life.
This series was exhibited at Sloe Vintage solo popup exhibition in May 2024, curated by Femilola O’Brien Dele.
